Freeport-based Advantage Payroll Services of Long Island has merged with Hauppauge-based Associated Payroll Consultants, creating a firm that employs 45 people and will retain the Advantage Payroll name.
Advantage,which was founded on Long Island 16 years ago, employed 35 and Associated, founded in 2004, employed 10. The combined entities process $100 million in payroll for 2,700 businesses in the region.
The stock-transaction closed on Dec. 31, but the merged firms began announcing the deal to clients in mid-February.
“This merger allows Advantage Payroll Services Long Island to expand our reach and to more efficiently service and market to central and eastern Long Island,” said Rob Basso, president of Advantage Payroll. “This merger makes the company stronger and better positioned for continued growth and to provide proven and effective solutions to a growing number of clients.”
Bernard Soto, a partner at Associated Payroll Consultants, has been named senior vice president of sales at Advantage. Warren Simon and Ethan Grodofsky, who had been co-owners with Soto, will serve as partners.
