March 2015 CPAdvantage Newsletter: Pay’roll’ It Forward
Every year, more talented women have joined the workforce here at Advantage Payroll Services. As I write this letter, 68% of our team is female. In a country where 57.2% of the working age women population is participating in the labor force, that is a pretty impressive statistic. In addition, 60% of all of our managers are female. These hardworking, talented women make up a large part of our organization. Recognizing these facts got me thinking about how to celebrate the working women at Advantage, at our clients’ businesses, and in all our personal lives.
March is Women’s History Month, which grew out of a small-town school event in California. Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society. The U.S. has observed it annually throughout the month of March since 1987. As a proud advocate for entrepreneurship and small business, I figured there was no better time to acknowledge the inspirational women in our lives both on a personal and professional level.
That’s why we are introducing our latest Client Appreciation Contest in honor of Women’s History Month, called Pay‘roll’ It Forward. All you have to do is visit our contest page and fill out the entry form, including the most important part—telling us about a woman who has influenced or inspired you and how—and you could win a FREE payroll run!
For every entry we receive, Advantage will donate $5 to Dress for Success, a charitable organization which promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. And for our hardworking team members at Advantage, the winner’s (who will be randomly selected from the pool of entries) Payroll Specialist will receive a gift card to help expand their professional wardrobe!
In addition to a monetary donation, Advantage will be hosting a professional apparel drive throughout the month of March. If you have any like-new or unworn professional women’s apparel that would be suitable for an interview, bring it down to our Freeport office and we pass it along to Dress for Success. Think suits, dress pants, blazers, jackets, skirts and blouses that are interview appropriate.*Stay tuned to the Advantage Facebook page for a daily dose of inspiration. Throughout the month of March, we will be posting a groundbreaking, butt-kicking female titan of business every day. We look forward to hearing about the women who have inspired you—our valued clients!
*Unfortunately Advantage will not be able to provide you a tax receipt at the time of your donation. If you require a receipt, we encourage you to donate to Dress for Success directly at their Brookhaven location.
