Payroll companies are printing fewer checks than they once did, but they’re growing rapidly as firms hire more workers and seek additional services such as compliance with healthcare regulations.
Freeport-based Advantage Payroll Services, for instance, is coming off its best year to date in 2015, with an even stronger start to 2016.
“We have 3,000 new hires that came onto our system in the first two months of the year,” said Advantage Payroll President Rob Basso. “That’s roughly one employee per entity. We’ve seen forward momentum. I wouldn’t say it’s going gangbusters, but it’s progress.”
